Now, what ARE idioms?
Basically, idioms are GROUPS OF WORDS which have a different meaning to the exact meaning of the words. |
IDIOMS are often thought of as "sayings".
For example, in this sentence:
What it REALLY means is something like: "alone and helpless".
"We went hiking but were left high and dry by our guide," "High and dry" is the idiom . But it does NOT actually mean "high" or "dry".
