This contract contains activities for each of the Thinker's Keys [What is this?] listed in the table below. The activities are all based on the NZ School Journal Part 2, Number 1, 2003. Keep track of the activities you have completed by ticking each activity off as you go. You must do 12 of the listed activities.

[2] VARIATIONS Key [What is this?] |
How many ways can you use a pair of goggles like the one in the story, "Goggles", to make people happy?
Write and/or draw (and label/caption) TWELVE quality ideas. |
[3] ALTERNATIVES Key |
When you eat sweet things like honey, it's a good idea to pay special attention to cleaning your teeth. List up to SEVEN different ways you could clean your teeth well without using a toothbrush. |

Write SEVEN quality questions to which "cyclone" (or "cyclones") is the answer. |
[5] INTERPRETATIONS Key |
After a terrible storm, someone is looking out to sea, a very sad look on their face.
Give SEVEN possible (and creative!) reasons for this. |

Predict SEVEN new and futuristic ways people could farm certain insects (e.g. like we currently farm bees to make honey for us). Draw a quick sketch and give a description caption for each of your ideas. |

Read "Nana's Story". Key question: What if there really are spirits and ghosts which can come back and communicate with us Copy and complete the diagram below based on the key question above. Be creative!

Read the story, "Queen Bee Blues". Now look at the picture below. It is incomplete and your job is to complete it! Your completed picture must be related to the story, "Queen Bee Blues". Once you have completed the picture, colour it and give it a caption which makes it clear how it relates to the story. Be creative!

The "CREATIVITY KEY" is all about thinking creatively - inventing or creating new ideas. Read, "Cyclone". Give FIVE ways the effects of cyclones be made less devastating for people. Be creative! |

How might you use ice cream, a bee, and a pair of swimming goggles to catch a cat?? Give TWO solutions. Draw a diagram and write a description/explanation to clearly illustrate each of your ideas. All three items MUST be included in each of your solutions.

Think about the disadvantages (BLACK HAT POINTS) of ice-cream. Give SEVEN reasons aimed at convincing others that ice-cream should be banned. |
