EXTENSION AND ENRICHMENT TASKS - Developing a variety of skills and enriching our reading experience 1) Choose a story. Use a Flow Map [What is this?] of 5 or 6 boxes (no more, no less!) to give a plot summary of your story. [5 marks]
2) Draw a picture which suits this story (it MUST be an original picture). Give your picture colour, a border (a line border is OK) and an appropriate caption. (You can do this task by hand or by using an app or software on a device - just check with your teacher first.) [5 marks]
3) Complete this cloze sheet [click]. Glue this cloze sheet into your book and complete it using the most appropriate words you can. [5 marks]
4) Choose a story you would like to read aloud. Take this story home and read it to someone at home. You must get the signature of your parent or caregiver to show that you have actually done this activity.
Please ask that they sign this sheet right... HERE:__________________________________ ! [5 marks]
5) PROOF-READING. Click [here] to get the text you must proofread. There are 6 errors.
Use the computer (or similar) to complete this task. You will need to copy-and-paste this passage to an editing software (any will do - e.g. Word, Notepad, Google Docs, email, and so on) - and email (or similar) your corrected version to your teacher. Your teacher will explain your task in more detail. [3 mks] 6) Find an origami design you would like to try and construct. Follow the instructions and create one origami figure. (Even if it doesn't turn out perfectly, at least show your teacher how far you got! Keep it simple!) [10 marks]
7) Solar system research. You will need to create three lists.
♣ List 1: Give the planets in REVERSE order (so, start with the planet furthest from the sun).
